Aim
In system, control, or process engineering, devices like PLC, IPC, microcontroller kits or intelligent computer boards with advanced operating systems constitute an integral part of manufacturing and industrial processes. Advances in theory of informatics have not been fully implemented in process control design until recently. However, many complex technological processes such as nonlinear, delayed, non-minimum phase ones, multidimensional or hybrid ones are hardly controllable by conventional control methods. Therefore, advanced modern control strategies have been investigated to deal with the those problems. These methodologies, however, requires the utilization of elements of optimization or artificial intelligence. From this perspective, both, theoretical and application, contributions combining the informatics and system (control) issues are useful and desirable and highly welcome for the special session.

Remote sensing is the acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object and thus in contrast to on site observation. In modern usage, the term generally refers to the use of aerial sensor technologies to detect and classify objects on Earth (both on the surface, and in the atmosphere and oceans) by means of propagated signals (e.g. electromagnetic radiation). Essentially, system identification is an art of modeling, where appropriate choices have to be made concerning the level of approximation given the final modeling objective. In control theory, a parametric and/or state estimation method is a process that provides an estimate of the parameters and/or the state variables of a given complex system, from its input-output and state measurements. Thus, knowing the system parameters and/or state variables is necessary to solve many control theory problems.

SCOPE: It is now fairly well understood by academicians as well as practice engineers and circuit designers that in spite of the dominance of digital circuits and systems and digital signal processing, the importance of analog circuits and analog signal processing has not diminished by any account. In fact, in several areas and applications, analog circuits are indispensible e.g. continuous time filters, amplifiers, precision rectifiers, analog-to-digital (A/D) converters, digital-to-analog (D/A) converters and certain classes of communication circuits and artificial neural networks. In view of the above, research on analog circuit design has continued to remain prominent although, the design considerations and focus have changed from time to time alongside the changes in integrated circuit (IC) technology. There are several modern active elements such as current conveyors (CC), current feedback operational amplifiers (CFOA), operational transresistance amplifiers (OTRA), current differencing buffered amplifiers (CDBA), current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CDTA), four-terminal floating nullor (FTFN), voltage differencing transconductance amplifiers (VDTA) [18], current follower transconductance amplifiers (CFTA), current backward transconductance amplifiers have been available for analog signal processing and signal generation. The aim of this session is optimization methods and techniques developing using computers, on various case studies. Optimization with of nonlinear problem solving was studied. Minimization of a nonlinear objective function subject to linear or nonlinear constraints were examined. In any problem, constraints should be identified either as being inequality constraints or equality constraints. Inequality constraints in problem are frequently transformed into equality constraints, so that need focus first on problems involving only equality constraints. Lagrange multiplier optimization method was developed.

Aim
SOFT SWITCHING CONVERTERS are becoming more and more important in power conversion. Soft switching is a possible way of reducing losses in power electronic switches. The expression "soft switching" actually refers to the operation of power electronic switches as zero-voltage switches (ZVS) and/or zero-current switches (ZCS). Soft switching converters have been experiencing, in terms of research and applications, a constant growth during the last decades. The efforts of research have led to a rapid development of different soft switching converter topologies, modulation techniques, and control strategies. Nevertheless, many interesting aspects, such as efficiency improvement, optimized parameters, classification, increasing power density and switching frequency, decreasing circulating currents of auxiliary circuits and new applications, still require more investigation.
